tonight on an incident at the grand sierra resort. one man is in custody, while officers are still searching for a second suspect. this all started in a carson city liquor store where an expensive bottle of alcohol was stolen around five this afternoon. that's when an off duty police officer saw a car speeding up to 100 miles per hour on i-580. the officer followed the car and reported it to 9-1-1. the car was not being actively pursued, when it hit another car near meadowood mall interchange. ultimately the suspects ended up at the grand sierra resort where both suspects took off on foot. the driver was arrested quickly thanks to the quick response of multiple law enforcement agencies. "we contine to have that dialogue, we continue to work well together and i think that should be assuring for the

officials are still searching for the second suspect. he's described as being hispanic or white. security cameras at g- s-r caught him changing clothes. senator ted cruz takes on reno tonight as he makes a final push for supporters. kolo 8 news now's catherine van joins us in the studio with how he plans to win over nevada at tomorrow's caucus. cat? the crowd tonight were more than energetic. that rally just ended less than an hour ago at the boys and girls club where more than a thousand people came to see where he stands. he's calling for a reagan revolution that stands and fights for liberty, the bill of rights and christianity. before the senator even stepped on stage. he had several endorsement speeches from nevada assembly man... ira hansen.... attorney general adam laxalt... and even... celebrity radio host. glenn beck. he crowd already energized. cruz began making promises to repeal obama care.... end

through northern nevada on a last minute bid for votes, still looking for his first win, but with renewed momentum following a second place finish in south carolina. in an obvious reference to donald trump and ted cruz, the florida senator told a crowd of several hundred at the peppermill, the party will lose if they nominate a candidate, a majority of republicans don't like. he argued that he was the candidate who could unite the party in an election he said was pivotal for the nation's future. rubio told the crowd president obama had set the country on a downhill track and he said this election was coming at a pivotal moment. rubio: "i don't care how much you think they're funny or how interesting they may sound, if we nominate someone that 40 to 50 percent of our party can't stand, we are going to lose. we are going to lose to hillary clinton or bernie sanders. we have to nominate someone who will bring us together. and i will

anyone who's running right now." rubio: "if we lose this election we will have to explain to our kids why we inherited the greatest country in the world and they got something different. we still have time to get it right, but we don't have forever. that's the great challenge of this election and that's why i'm asking for your vote." rubio has been picking up endorsements from party regulars, including nevada senator dean heller and congressman mark amodei, both of whom appeared with him at today's rally. the last time someone of presidential material visited the comstock was ulysses s. grant in 1870. this morning ben carson campaigned in the comstock prior to the republican caucuses there. standing room only at the pipers opera house, where carson encouraged people not to listen to the media and the hype surrounding other candidates. he says he is still in the race at the encouragement of supporters thirsty for a campaign and presidency like his. ben carson, r-presidential candidate: as i explained, being quiet and mild mannered doesn't mean you aren't strong. people just need to be re- oriented and understand how that works. carson will be in las vegas tomorrow for a

gettng underway at five.### donald trump will be in sparks on tomorrow. he'll speak at a rally in the rose ballroom at the nugget casino resort at noon. doors open at 10 a-m. the event is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged. for the latest information on where the presidential candidates will be, just go to kolo tv dot com. there are a few things you need to remember if you plan on taking part in tomorrow's republican caucus. first... your caucus site may or may not be the same as your regular voting location. second... you'll need to check the time your precint is caucusing. you can only participate if you are already registered to vote as a republican. the deadline to register for tomorrow's caucus has already passed. you have a couple of options. you can fill out a ballot with your candidate preference... or stay for discussion among supporters of the various candidates. but before you can participate... you'll need

issued i-d when you check in. you can find more information about the the caucuses on kolo t-v dot com. just click on hot topics. the nevada state democratic party has released their official recap of saturday's democratic caucus. according to the party, nearly 84 thousand people participated in the caucus. an estimated 14 thousand nevadans registered as democrats. and 65 percent of those who went to the caucus were going for the first time. the owner of a carson city brewery is facing felony theft charges. lake tahoe brewing company owner michael candelario was arrested today. officials say candelario is suspected of stealing 45-thousand dollars. he allegedly sold canning equipment to a company in canada. when he got the money... he reportedly never arraigned for the equipment to be shipped

deputies arrived at the brewery this morning and say they found a moving van being loaded. lake tahoe brewing has been closed since last month due to a boiler problem. the nevada highway patrol is releasing new information about a deadly crash in carson city. n-h-p says 55 year old melanie marnne-lawson was killed in crash between college parkway and arrowhead drive last friday. she was driving in the fast lane when she drove into the left shoulder. she overcorrected and drove across all the southbound lanes and hit a concrete wall. she was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries. this is still under investigation. washoe county school district police are trying to find out who vandalized sarah winnemucca elementary school. the vandalism happened over the weekend. we were told someone broke into the school, but it's not clear if anything was taken. anyone with

disastrous. an 8 foot tall boulder weighting an estimated 60 thousand pounds fell saturday night from the mountainside onto u-s highway 50 near the cave rock tunnel. this is video from today as the boulder sits next to a guard rail. right below are homes. on tuesday construction will begin to remove the rock.... breaking it into little pieces with a hydraulic drill. it is a time consuming process. the nevada department of transportation says to expect delays or avoid the area if you can. "what we are going to do tomorrow is take all of the traffic and put it on the eastbound side of the highway, running single lane traffic on both sides so it is going to be a lot slower." ndot will be starting a five million dollar construction project in the beginning of may on the cave rock tunnel. it will replacing the steel mesh with a larger concrete barrier to hopefully catch more falling rocks.

common way for companies to get employees healthy. many of these initiatives involve giving away something we all love -- cash! but is there a smarter way to go about that? that's at the center of a new study. andrew spencer has more with tonight's

employers want healthier employees...and as a result, workplace wellness programs are hot! according to a study published in the annals of internal medicine - now more than 80% of big companies are now offering some form of financial incentive to get their workers to participate. looking at how such programs can be more effective... researchers gave nearly 300 people a 7- thousand step goal to keep up during a 13- week-challenge. the study participants were broken up into groups... one got one dollar and forty cents for each day they hit the 7- thousand step goal. the second group's participants were lottery -- they could their goal the day before. the third received $42 upfront each month -- with the caveat that participants lost one dollar and forty cents for each day they failed to meet the 7-thousand step goal. so what did researchers find? the group that was
